The Curtenius Guard Camp #17, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War meetings are held at the Grand Army of the Republic (G.A.R.) Hall, 115 Main Street, Sunfield, Michigan (West of Lansing) at 7:00 P.M. on the last Tuesday of January, March, July, September, and November, and on the 30th of May.
The G.A.R. Hall that the Camp meets at was erected in 1899 by the Civil War veterans of Samuel Grinnell G.A.R. Post #283. The hall is listed as an Eaton County Historical Site, included in the state of Michigan's Register of Historical Sites, and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is the only G.A.R. hall in Michigan that has remained in continuous service by the G.A.R. and/or one or more of its Allied Orders (Woman's Relief Corps, Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, Sons of Veterans USA, and Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War) since it was built.
As a subordinate entity of the National Organization of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, the Lansing/Sunfield Curtenius Guard Camp #17 is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization and as such all donations to the Camp are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
